Description
Humans seem compelled to try to imagine what an animal is thinking. What is this addax thinking? Wake me when it’s time to eat? It’s too hot to do anything but sleep? The addax is also known as the white antelope and the screwhorn antelope, both for obvious reasons. Both males and females have long twisted horns with 1.5 to 3 spiral twists. Its native habitat is the Sahara desert so you would think the warm weather of a wildlife refuge in Texas would be no problem. Addax can live for long periods without water, another plus for living in drought-prone Texas. They are critically endangered in the wild but many exist in captive breeding programs around the world.
