Description
Battle Hall on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin in Austin TX celebrated its 100th anniversary several years ago. It is located near "The Tower" on campus, and a walk around that area is treat with all the beautiful architecture! Battle Hall is also known as "The Old Library," and is one of the four buildings on campus that have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The building was designed by New York architect Cass Gilbert in 1911, using a Spanish-Mediterranean Revival style. He excluded all ornamentation indigenous or identifiable to Texas and adopted a Spanish-Mediterranean revival style, in place of Collegiate Gothic, as that which best suited the image of the fledgling university as well as the Texas climate. This style became the model for future buildings on campus. Battle Hall served as the main library until the new main building was completed in 1937. It now fittingly houses the Architecture and Planning Library, the Alexander Architectural Archive and the Center for American Architecture.

Very nice - I always love door and window shots because they always leave so much to the imagination!
